Cops for Kids Program

The “Cops for Kids Program” was established to enable us to give something back to the citizens of Lewisburg and provide assistance to those families that may find themselves facing difficult financial hardships.

Lieutenant Rebekah Mitchell manages this program. Working with community agencies and school counselors we were able to select about one hundred (130) local children last year (2010) providing them with a Christmas shopping trip. There is a focus on providing them with essential items such as clothing, winter items, shoes, etc. However, we also try to provide them with toys or other items that a child would enjoy at Christmas. We also treat them to a lunch after the shopping trip. Both the shopping trip and lunch take place at local businesses.

Funding for the “Cops for Kids Program” comes entirely from donations from local citizens and businesses in conjunction with our fundraising events. Please consider making a donation to this very worthwhile program. The information for submitting donations is included below. The smiles that we see on the faces of these children more than repay the time and effort put into this program.

We want to express our sincere thanks to the businesses and the community for their tremendous support of our Cops for Kids program.  This second annual fundraiser, on August 28th, 2010 was an overwhelming success.  Activities included a 5K Walk/Run, inflatable activities for the kids, a rock climb wall, a dunk tank, snowcones,  lots of food and silent & live auctions.  All of the money raised will go towards helping the kids in our community.  We look forward to an even bigger and better event next year!
